After a few days of working hard with Daphne...
I have completed an order for a 10 aprons and mop caps that are to be used in a dance groups next production.
The production is about the history of the Welsh language in schools at the turn of the 20th century and why school children in Wales were banned from speaking it!
Here is Gladys modelling one of the aprons and cap
and so, this afternoon, after tending the veg garden, I found a spare while to carry on my new crochet project...
a multi coloured blanket using some lovely pinks, lime greens and neutrals to soften the palate.
my lovely doggie, Finley seemed to want to learn and was very interested in the process
(just in case you were wondering, I have asked his permission to use his picture, and after much thought he agreed, providing I give him an extra walk and more tummy rubs...
boy does he know how to bargain!)
'nellie and eve' is based on a hill in south west Wales UK. Hand spinning yarn, weaving, crochet and teaching these wonderful crafts. This is a blog about the things I love to make, grow, bake, learn and teach.

Crochet bug...
For ages now I have been wanting to learn how to crochet properly and actually make an item, other than sample size dish cloths!
At various stages of my childhood crafting days, knitting and sewing had a featuring role
but somehow crochet always got away...and the skill was never really fully understood
until now that is...
This week I completed my first crochet project...other than flowers
A hanger cover
I am very proud of my little cover and I can now hang my favourite summer dress from its lovely crochet shoulders.
It may not be perfect
I may have to learn how to crochet in a straighter line from time to time
But the pleasure was all mine while making up my new wardrobe friend.
I am now well on the way to completing another and am loving the rose pink and pale lime green colours together...
My wardrobe will be filled with these little gems of crochet delight by summers end
I would like to thank Vanessa and her lovely blog
do you mind if I knit for her crochet inspiration.
She made me want to learn so bad.
I have, between treble and double crochet, put some new items in my shop this week, some have featured in my previous blogs, I do hope you like them.
happy weekend

Lazy days...
What could be more wonderful than having a day off mid week, lazing about in the sun, enjoying a glass of homemade Elderflower wine, a 2009 vintage?
Happy days at nellie and eve HQ
although I do hear a rumble of thunder and the clouds are thickening... and, oh no a splat of rain...but hey, still got the wine and the day off, so not so bad at all
happy wednesday everyone

Coffee cake diverts my attention...
Ok, I own up, my attentions have been diverted somewhat this week from my beloved Daphne...to more yummier things...
Yep... gorgeous Coffee and Walnut cake baking.
Simply... I love baking cakes,
and as much as I love being with Daphne
sometimes needs must,
the cake tin was bare!
Ok, Ok, I know there is more than one cake, 'do you really need two cakes in the cake tin?'
I hear you say
But you see, its just as easy to bake two as it is one, so...
why not?
here is a new item, as happy as the beautiful sunshine days we are having at the mo,
Miss yellow bag will be in my shop next week, along with some other little beauties...
until then fair folk
Happy weekend
